Carter is a Duke man through-and-through. He did his undergrad there and loved it so much that he returned to get his MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. While at Fuqua, Carter discovered another passion: healthcare technology. As a Fuqua Flare Scholar, he had the opportunity to work with Flare’s elite healthcare VC team and learn from them and their
portfolio companies.

After graduating, he joined Aetion, a healthcare technology company, helping to start their
Strategic Partnerships team. He is currently accelerating Aetion’s growth through partnerships with complementary enterprises. Carter enjoys everything about this process, particularly the relationship that develops as a partnership moves from the tentative early stages to a mutually beneficial contract.

Prior to returning to Duke, Carter worked for Epic Systems, leading implementation projects for their Inpatient Pharmacy and Clinical Decision Support tools. Additionally, in his last two years at Epic he helped develop Epic’s Inpatient Pharmacy Inventory application and lead its first implementation at Massachusetts General Hospital. The high-stakes nature of the healthcare industry draws out the best in Carter, and he applies the same methodical, focused mindset when he works with applicants at Sable .
