Applying abroad is a truly an exhausting and long process but the end result is always worth it. If you’re struggling to wrap your head around the process as a whole, here is what you have to do in a nutshell:
- Decide properly whether you want to study abroad and you have the facilities/ support to do so.
- Think about the course you want to do.
- Make a perfect list of 7-8 courses which you will apply for.
Tip- Work on the quality of your applications here, not quantity, so I wouldn’t recommend exceeding 10! - Look at the requirements, work towards them, meet them- one exam at a time
- Write your Personal Statements, create your CV, put together all the requirements
- Apply! (Took quite a few steps to get here, didn’t it?)
- Wait for a response (a lot of deep breathing recommended in this phase)
- Receive all of your responses
- Select the best option for you future and put in the deposit (if required)
- Choose your accommodation and book it according to the university’s timelines
- Work towards reaching your final requirements, if your offer is conditional
- Put together your visa documents, apply for visa and subsequently secure your visa
- Send the university all your final documents before the deadline
- Go to university!
In a nutshell, this is the process. If you want more details on each step then refer to some of my other blogs that delve deep into each topic.
Once you start with the application process, at various stages you may find yourself confused or lost. For this reason, it is best to have someone with you who can help you on your journey to achieve your dreams. This can mean hiring a counsellor, who is familiar with the colleges and their process or family/ teachers who can read and edit your work to fit your profile. Choose wisely so that you’re able to apply without too many worries.
